Ram Gopal Varma's office 'Factory' was situated in the Andheri area of Mumbai and the filmmaker was working in the city. However, he has now shifted out of Mumbai and spoken about it recently. He has revealed that he has shifted base to Goa.
Speaking to the Times of India, he said, "Goa is best suited for the kind of projects I am looking at. My office 'Factory' is not in Mumbai anymore. I was in Hyderabad for a major part of the lockdown but have shifted out of Mumbai in the past few months."
Was the Coronavirus-struck pandemic the reason why he decided to make this decision? This is what Varma had to say, "Everyone has got used to a different way of communicating; personal meetings are a thing of the past. Everybody is talking and doing meetings on online chats."
Varma made his debut in Hindi films as a director with Nagarjuna's Shiva in 1989 and went on to direct films like Raat, Rangeela, Daud, Satya, Kaun, Mast, Jungle, Company, Bhoot, Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, Rakht Charitra, Rann, and The Attacks of 26/11.
Creating a horror film titled 12 o'clock within the short span of 40 days, the filmmaker had something to say. "We took necessary precautions while filming. The subject and the locations that we zeroed in on were such that they enabled us to film in controlled environments. We shot for it in August, across Mumbai and Hyderabad," Varma told mid-day.
The filmmaker, who has successfully dabbled in the genre with films like Raat and Bhoot, confessed to being fascinated by it. Considering that fear is a natural instinct, he attempts to egg viewers on to be imaginative. He confessed to having tried an array of tricks to bring his films to life. "In 12 o'clock, more than the camera movements and music, we have banked on the performances to instil fear and make scenes as believability as is possible."
