Prateik Babbar's next on social issue - the controversial triple talaq

Prateik Babbar's upcoming film, Yaaram, deals with the controversial triple talaq. He plays the character of a man who marries his buddy's wife after he divorces her. Ovais Khan's directorial, which also stars Siddhanth Kapoor and Ishita Raj Sharma, takes up the issue in contemporary times.

Prateik's father Raj Babbar starred in B R Chopra's Nikaah (1982), which was a social commentary on talaq and its misuse. The film, which starred Salma Agha and Deepak Parashar, is still remembered for its chartbusters, which include Chupke Chupke Raat Din. Almost four decades later, Prateik finds himself part of a film with a similar subject.

The actor was recently seen with Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma, Navin Polishetty, Taahir Raj Bhasin in Chhichhore. Directed by Dangal fame director Nitesh Tiwari, the film received accolades from the critics and the audience alike.

Prateik also delved into the web medium and did the show, SkyFire. The story of SkyFire revolves around a natural calamity that affects thousands of lives due to weather changes. It is an adaptation of an eponymous book written by Aroon Raman. Talking about his inputs in the show, Raman had then said: "As a writer, my idea is to write a thriller in a manner that will make my reader turn the page to know the story till the end. When the show was in the process of being made, I was not looking at the story from a proprietorial point of view to say that 'All my characters have to be exactly like it is in the book'."

Prateik Babbar, who is married to Sanya Sagar went on a honeymoon to Los Angeles in August 2019. The couple kept sharing mushy photos from the trip on their social media accounts.
